The Brotherhood of The Cross and Star (BCS) has alleged government of paying lip service to the development and empowerment of youths.
This was the remark of BCS’s spokesperson, Archbishop Princely Ibeabuchi, at a briefing last Wednesday in Surulere to proclaim this year’s Brotherhood Youth Assembly International Conference (BAYA), with theme-‘One God One Universe’, which started last Friday and will end today at the All Seasons Plaza, Lateef Jakande Road, Agidingbi Ikeja.
The faith group, which prefers to be addressed as a kingdom condemned the inability of various Nigerian states to initiate programmes capable of adding value to the lives of the youths.
Archbishop Ibeabuchi, while calling on government to care for and empower the youths, outlined the benefits the society stands to get when the youths are rightly empowered, some of which are: lessening of social ills, safety of lives and properties, national advancement etc.
On the part of the youths, he urged them to show commitment and responsibility in moving the nation forward even as he lamented the situation whereby Nigerian youths travel abroad to school and refuse to come home to implement what they have learnt.
He as well advised youths to channel their strength towards working for God because a time would come in the future when they would no longer have the strength to work.
Ibeabuchi who shared of how helpful the kingdom has been in creating awareness of youth empowerment programmes said that the Kingdom’s founder, His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu will be present today at the programme.
Additionally, Ibeabuchi described BAYA as: “An umbrella body  that provides BCS youths the opportunity to widen their horizon as they learn from the father’s (Obu’s) teaching and interact with one another.”
