Government Poised To Tackle Constraints Facing Industrial Sector

As the Federal Government decides to pay more attention to Made in Nigeria goods as a way of boosting our economy and reduce over dependence on imported products, the Minister of State for State,Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment, Hajia Aisha Abubakar has disclosed that her Ministry has put in place appropriate policies, programmes and projects aimed at effectively tackling the constraints facing the industrial sector.
Hajia Aisha Abubakar disclosed this at the opening of Standard Organization of Nigeria 2016 Annual Retreat which was held in Kaduna.
She stated that these measures will not only impact on the manufacturing sectors but also other sectors such as Agriculture, Education.
According to her, the quest to industrialize the economy is internally driven.  “Such is yours with the mandate to ensure proper standards of goods and products.
Advising the organization, she said, they must ensure that the Made in Nigeria products become exportable and able to support the nation’s foreign exchange earnings while at the same time improving capacity utilization towards providing more job opportunities for our teeming youths.
“In doing this, you need to intensify your fight against the circulation of substandard products in Nigeria by developing new strategies to importation as well as local production of sustandard products”.
The minister enjoined them to provide greater assurance to the Nigerian public by ensuring the certification of Made in Nigeria products that qualifies the award. “You will also need to pay greater attention to staff training and retraining towards ensuring acquisition of skills and best pratices as obtains in the developed economies where most of the products competing with our manufactures come from.
“The Standard Organisation staff must think out of the box and develop novel ways of achieving your set targets”. She reiterated.
She drew their attention to the cardinal goals of the present administration which are Anti-corruption Campaign, Security and Economy.
“The Federal Government is committed towards the fight against corruption and therefore urge each and every one to be diligent in your assigned duties, transparent in your transactions and be an advocate for positive change in Nigeria. “Development cannot thrive in an insecure environment, so industrialization and attracting Foreign Direct Investments would be effective only in a friendly and conducive environment while the focus of the government in economy centers on industrialization”.she stated.
