The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State has affirmed its support to the Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello-led administration’s willing to probe the immediate past Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) government under Dr. Babangida Aliyu if that is the wish of Nigerlites, even as the later has maintained that ‘he has nothing to hide’.

“We are solidly behind the Finance and Infrastructure Committee set up by Governor Sani Bello and we urge him not to hesitate to go further to set up a commission of enquiry to probe the immediate past government because of the noticeable rots,” the party said.

The APC, through a statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa, pledged their unflinching support to the setting up of the two committees by the Bello administration to recover all monies stolen in the eight years of immediate past PDP government.

Vatsa said: “If it is the wish of the people based on the discoveries by the two committees set up that a probe should be instituted on the government, so shall it be, because APC is a party that follows the popular will of the people, it is the essence of change that the people voted for.”

The party according to the statement, noted with dismay the rot and corruption in some government boards and parastatals, adding that, “In the SURE-P, through workers’ salaries and pension funds by consultants, Ministry of local government, (the ten kilometer roads, ward development projects and many funny loans taken and transferred into personal accounts.”

While urging the governor not to waive any crime committed against the will of the people, Vatsa said the party would continue to support Governor Bello as he delivers the dividends of democracy according to the needs and aspirations of the citizenry.

Babangida Aliyu who spoke through his former Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Israel Ebije, said there is nothing to pin him to any financial irregularities all through his eight years in government, insisting that, ‘Babangida Aliyu served Niger state diligently’.

The former Governor, however, urged the APC not to constitute itself as a probe panel to gore the committees set up by the incumbent administration into doing the bidding of the party as that would amount to ‘witch-hunting’.
