LAFIA – Umaru Tanko, Nasarawa Sate Governor, has called for more support for the Nigerian paralympians on the premise of their excellent outing at the ongoing Rio Paralympic Games.
As at Wednesday, Team Nigeria have won eight gold, two silver and a bronze.

The governor, in a statement signed by Ahmed Tukur, his special assistant on Media and Publicity, said that the physical challenged  has demonstrated once more that they have potentials to excel even where able bodied men and women failed to deliver.

According to him, “Paralympic team has proved to the world that Nigeria has potentials in every ramification of human endeavour and are not deterred by physical challenges,” he said.

He emphasised that with a greater attention for people living with disability the country would witness greater development and prosperity.

The governor, who is also physically challenged, urged people living with disability not to be deterred but continue to offer selfless service to humanity and prove those who taught they are second citizens wrong.

He, however, said that with the victory at the Paralympics and other aspects of human endeavour they would get to the promise land, while urging them to remain steadfast in their dreams and see their challenge as a morale booster.
