The Nigeria Golf Federation (NGF) has charged the Nigerian women taking part in the on-going All Africa Ladies Golf Challenge holding in Tunisia to be good ambassadors of the country.
In an interview on Thursday, Taiwo Oriss, the Secretary General, said that the Federation was behind women to excel in prayers.
“NGF is behind Nigerian women to excel in Tunisia. We are partners in the game and their success in this tournament will be a thing of joy.
“The NGF urge them to be good ambassadors of Nigeria by avoiding any thing that will bring disrepute to the country,” he said.
The NGF was also mindful of the death of Tima Animashaun, President of the Ladies Golf Association of Nigeria (LGAN) and urged them to win for her: “Let our women have at the back of their minds that they will win in commemoration of Animashaun.”
The tournament, which commenced on April 2 and ends April 12, 2016 has in attendance top Nigerian lady golfers as Amina Wilfred and Anita Uwadia.
Amina, who is a member of the IBB International Golf Club, Abuja said, “I’ll do my best to prove that my recent sparkles are no fluke by coming tops.”
For Uwadia, she said, “It’s always a joy to represent Nigeria and so I’ll up my game to make my country proud.”
