The comedy show organised by Globacom, Glo Laffta Fest, stormed Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital over the weekend.

The show held at the Aztech Arcum event centre, Stadium Road, attracted a huge number of subscribers of various ages and social classes.

Guests started trooping into the venue as early as 2pm for the show advertised to start at 4pm. Many fun seekers who arrived late could not gain entry into the hall as it was filled to capacity. A large screen was provided outside the hall to enable them monitor the proceedings.

Some of Nigeria’s best known comedians took turns to thrill the audience with rib-cracking jokes. To complement the famous comedians were Port Harcourt-based artistes such as Sammie Wonder, Senator, MP2, B1, MC Bentenson, and Prince Hezekiah.

Comedians who performed at the show included Funny Bone, Salvador of Uganda and Julius Agwu, who recounted his experience in the United States when he  went for brain surgery and thanked Globacom for giving him the opportunity to perform before his own people.

Julius who was performing for the first time in Port Harcourt since February this year, drew  a huge emotional response from the crowd when he said that at a point, he was not sure if he would make it back to Port Harcourt alive. He profusely thanked Dr. Mike Adenuga Jr and Globacom management for the support.

Some of the audience at the show got free airtime when the show anchor, Basket Mouth read out recharge card PINs in what he called Fastest Fingers contest.

Salvador proved to be one of the best performers of the show as he reeled out hilarious jokes which left several guests with teary eyes.

Glo ambassador, Korede Bello also performed at the show, mingling and interacting his teeming fans while he performed his hit track, “Godwin”. The duo of Nollywood actors, Chiwetalu Agu and Bishop Okon added spice to the show by making cameo appearances on stage.

The event was wrapped up by Wande Coal with a superlative and energetic performance.

Earlier, in his opening remarks, Globacom’s National Sales Coordinator, South South, Augustine Mamuro, said the company is very passionate about its subscribers, the company’s source of joy, which is why the twin shows, Laffta Fest and Slide n Bounce have been put together to reward and delight them within one month.

“As a business enterprise which is very passionate about its subscribers, we have decided henceforth to give all our subscribers more of everything we do. These include more rewards, more shows and the best experience they can ever get from any network,” he enthused.

According to Mr. Mamuro, there is still opportunity for subscribers in Ikeja, Ibadan, Egbeda, Ijebu Ode and Abuja to attend  the show by using up to N3,000 before the show and sending ‘LOL’ and preferred location of the show to “33001.” For example, ‘LOL Ikeja’ to 33001.

Ikeja is the next port of call of the show. It is slated for October 3, 2015, at Waterparks, Toyin Street.
