It will be recalled that scorer of the goal for Giwa and captain of the side, Charles Henlong, had earlier predicted that his side would end the league leaders’ fine run. His prediction was almost not coming to pass until the 75th spot kick, which was converted by the skipper.

Second-placed Sunshine FC was beaten by Shooting Stars of Ibadan, which still leaves Enyimba with 52 points and Sunshine with 47 points.

In other results, Wikki Tourists beat Akwa United in Bauchi 3-1 while IfeanyiUba whip Taraba 2-0 in Nnewi.

Nasarawa United was held to a 1-1 draw by visiting Warri Wolves. Kwara United defeated Abia Warriors 1-0 at home, while El-Kanemi humbled Lobi Stars 2-1. In the oriental derby in Owerri, homers, Heartland, defeated Enugu Rangers by 2-0.

Meanwhile, the match between Kano Pillars and Sharks in Port Harcourt is slated for today. The same is also the match between Dolphins and Bayelsa United also in Port Harcourt. The shift, it was gathered, may not be unconnected with the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier between Sierra Leone and Cote d’Ivoire in Port Harcourt.
