Former Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Yekini Adeojo, has charged the President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, not to disappoint the masses on his electoral promises.

The PDP chieftain, who is the Seriki Musulumi of Yorubaland, gave this charge on Friday at the turbanning of the new Chief Imam of Ibadanland, Sheikh Abdul-Ganiyy Agbotomokekere where he was the chairman of the occasion.

Adeojo, who was full of praises to Almighty God for the peaceful elections the country just witnessed, said to the President-elect that; “the masses of this country are looking towards you in keeping your electoral promises which we know you will not fail by the grace of Allah”.

He commended the outgoing President, Goodluck Jonathan, for bequeathing to the country an electoral system Nigerians could be proud of and his conceding victory even when the collation of the election results was still in progress was a landmark.

The PDP chieftain also recalled what he described as past efforts of the spiritual leaders in encouraging people to live in peace with their neighbours, love one another, and cooperate with leaders in authority and called for the sustenance of the efforts.

“I also call on the new Chief Imam to add value to the lessons drawn from the progressive and peaceful culture of the preaching of your predecessors by not only imbibing their culture, but, also improving on it. I like to see our new Chief Imam to emphasize the importance of education in the development of the nation and the well-being of the people”, Adeojo stated.

The Turbanning Planning Committee Chairman, Adebayo Oyero commended the state governor, Abiola Ajimobi, for his support for the programme and urged him not to relent in his efforts to leave Oyo State better than he met with the second term mandate he recently received from the people of the state.
