The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has enjoined school children in Anambra State to take up the challenge of campaigning against over speeding by speaking to their parents and guardians politely on it.
Addressing pupils of Royal Ambassadors Foundation Schools, GRA, Onitsha, FRSC Unit Commander in Onitsha, Mr Anthony Metta, urged the pupils to speak out politely to their parents or any driver speeding or not putting on seat belt on the highway.

Also make sure that anybody under the age of 12 and below seats at the back of the vehicle even if it is your school bus or commercial bus.

While during the weekend, you go out with your daddy for social occasion like wedding, meetings and traditional function remind him that he must not drink before driving, but he should reserve the drinks and take it after you have got home,’’ Metta said.

The FRSC delegation visited four schools and got their intention to support road safety club through sign of the UN school’s commitment to road safety.

The highlight of activities in each school visited were distribution of instructional banner with road safety signs and symbols as well as distribution of calendars with FRSC vision and mission.

Earlier, the FRSC Special Marshals and Partnership in Anambra State had said the corps has plans to establish road safety club in all schools in Anambra State within the next four years.

The Coordinator of FRSC Special Marshals and Partnership in the state, Mr. Ben Osaka, made this known during the sensitisation on road safety and need to have FRSC Safety Club.

The schools’ campaign was part of activities marking this year’s United Nations (UN) World Road Safety Week, themed: `Children and Road Safety’.
