Andy Murray and Stan Wawrinka’s quarter-final matches were amongst those postponed until Wednesday following heavy rain at Roland Garros.
Defending champion Wawrinka was up last to face Albert Ramos-Vinolas on Suzanne-Lenglen; while Murray was up against local favourite Richard Gasquet on Philippe-Chatrier but both were postponed after heavy rain wreaked havoc with earlier matches.
Such was the havoc caused by the rain, only two matches were completed on the women’s side of the draw before the rain struck.
Tsvetana Pironkova stunned Agnieszka Radwanska on Suzanne-Lenglen Court while Samantha Stosur powered past Simona Halep on Court 1.
However, world number one Novak Djokovic was 3-6 6-4 4-1 up against Roberto Bautista Agut on Chatrier in their last-16 match when rain struck for a second time on Tuesday.
Play was set to resume at 18:00 GMT but the men’s quarter-finals featuring Murray and Wawrinka – last on Chatrier and Lenglen – were postponed until Wednesday.
The tournament organisers later announced that both of the Williams sisters’ matches were also cancelled, with Serena’s match against Elina Svitolina and Venus’ match against Timea Bacsinszky also put back until Wednesday.
