Here are five things they did not tell you about Kogi State Governor-elect, Yahaya Bello.

1. Young politician

Bello is relatively young for a Nigerian politician. He was born in Igbirra, Okene local government area of Kogi state, on June 18, 1975.

He got admission into the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) Zaria in 1996 to study accounting. Bello graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting in 1999, the year Nigeria returned to democracy.

He went through the “new” 6-3-3-4 education system introduced by the regime of General Ibrahim Babangida in 1989: the schooling period was divided into six years in primary, three in junior secondary, three in senior secondary and four in the university.

The governor-elect has a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the ABU.

3. Corper

The future governor did his one-year National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) programme at Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC) in Abuja

4. Career

We cannot say Bello is an experienced politician. The governor-elect is more like “a new kid on the block”.

He worked at the RMAFC, got promoted to the position of assistant chief accountant.

Bello is a businessman and the managing director of FairPlus International Ltd., the chairman of Kogi Youth Arise Forum and a member of the Chartered Fellow of Association of National Accountant of Nigeria (ANAN).

5. Hobbies
