Five Suspected Robbers Arrested In Anambra

Five suspected cultists, three girls and two boys were arrested on Friday  while robbing passersby at Obosi, Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.

Luck ran out on them when a local vigilance team that was driving on the road suspected their action demanded their identity.

Daily Independent Metro learnt one of the cultists opened fire on them but the bullet pierced through the clothe of one of the vigilante men.

The vigilante operative reportedly fired back and hit the suspected robber on one of his legs but he escaped with the bullet wound.

His other accomplices; three girls and a boy were consequently arrested with two guns and one locally made pistols recovered from them.

Confirming the incident, the Commander, Idemili North and South Surveillance Squad, Mr. Arthur Ilongwu, told newsmen that the run-away cultist who shot one of his boys was later arrested in Ojoto in Idemili South council where he went for medical treatment.  He said that Obosi for has become a–no-go area for cultists. According to him, the arrested cultists have been handed over to the Anti-Cult Squad in Enugwu-Ukwu.

He disclosed that some of the youths few days to the arrest of the five cultists, were initiated into cultism by the arrested cult gang.

According to Ilongwu, the new members were being hunted to ensure that the numbers of cultists were drastically reduced in area.
