The bidding process for the 2026 World Cup has been postponed amid allegations around the 2018 and 2022 tournaments.

FIFA Secretary General, Jerome Valcke, said it was “a nonsense” to begin the process in the current climate.

This is even as former Super Eagles Coach, Degboye Onigbinde, has reacted to the announcement when Daily Independent sought his opinion on the development. The respected football buff writes off the announcement, saying it has nothing to do with the current allegation rocking the world football house.

“2026 is still a long time from now. So it has little or no significance to the current problem rocking them. Probably they merely want to give bidding countries chance to articulate their plans.

But if you say it is because of the current problem rocking FIFA that may not be true. This is because 2026 world cup is still a long time from now.”
