International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) has appealed to the Niger State House of Assembly to speed up action towards the implementation of the Child Rights Law to enable them check child-related abuses across the state.

With the signing into law of the Child Rights Act, the women lawyers in Niger State said that they would challenge anybody or group that undermines certain rights and privileges women and children enjoy from parents and/or guardians in the state.

Chairperson of the Federation in Niger State, Hajiya Fati Suleiman Takuma, made the declaration when she led other female lawyers on a visit to the Speaker, Niger State House of Assembly, Ahmed Marafa.

If the Child Rights is signed into law, Takuma said, the female lawyers in Niger State would bring to book violators of child-related abusers and in doing so give every child desired sense of belonging hence she appealed to the state lawmakers to help speedy up actions on the law.

While lamenting the frustrations children in Niger State go through in the hand of their parents and guardians daily, Takuma appealed to the Speaker to act so that the variant categories of child abuse will be reduced to the barest minimal in the state.
