The Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (FMARD), has resolved to partner with the Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) and the Nigeria Agribusiness Group (NABG) to implement some micro reforms in the agricultural sector in Nigeria.

The Permanent Secretary, FMARD, Sonny Echono, made this disclosure at the launch of Micro reforms for African Agribusiness in Nigeria at the Reiz Continental Hotel, Abuja.

The Permanent Secretary, represented by the Director, Agribusiness and Marketing, FMARD, Ohiare Jatto, stated that Nigeria’s agriculture has been receiving a major boost now that the private sector has taken the centre stage of activities in the sector.

Echono explained that the goal of government is to attract private sector agribusinesses through investment facilitation from early stage and going through the investment lifecycle, using reforms, regulations, laws and administrative practices.

He added that, “The private sector has become the engine of Nigeria’s economic growth.”
