A female banker has been remanded in prison by an Abuja Grade 1 Area Court for allegedly injuring an official of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDS).

The accused, Adaora Onwe, 33, of Phase 2, Site 2, WAS charged with causing grievous hurt. She, however, pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to her.

The offence contradicts Section 247 of the Penal Code. The police prosecutor, Inspector Lukas Ephraim, presenting the First Information Report in court, said the Civil Defence officer, Madi Onyekachi, a neighbor to the accused, complained at the Kubwa Police Station of how the accused attacked him and inflicted a deep cut on his hand with a broken bottle.

He said the act caused the complainant serious body pain.
