FCT Principal’s Cup Football Competition Enters Quarter-Finals Stage

The quarter-finals stage of the maiden FCT Principal’s Cup Football Competition will begin on Monday in Abuja with two matches slated for play.

Chairman of the competition’s Main Organising Committee (MOC), Patrick Ngwaogu, in a statement on Sunday said all the 10 zonal finalists would take part in the stage.

He said all the six matches in the quarter-finals stage would be played at the Area 3 playing pitch in Garki.

Ngwaogu, who is the Vice-Chairman of the FCT Football Association, however noted that the competition’s opening phase was as entertaining as it was exciting.

“In the preliminary stage of the competition, we had 38 matches played, with 151 goals scored.

“In Gwagwalada Zone, the students scored 44 goals, while Karshi zone recorded 33 goals.

“In Kuje zone, 32 goals were scored, while in the Tudunwada and Kwali zones, the students scored 22 and 20 goals respectively,’’ he said.

Ngwaogu said Monday would see Government Secondary School (GSS) Lugbe taking on GSS Dangara by 2 p.m., while GSS Tudunwada Wuse Zone 4 would face GSS Shere at 4 p.m.

“On Tuesday, GSS Yangoji will lock horns with Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Gwagwalada, while GSS Tunga Maji will take on Model Secondary School (MSS) Maitama,’’ the MOC chairman said.

The last quarter-final matches would be played on Wednesday.

GSS Zuba will battle winners of the match between GSS Lugbe and GSS Dangara, while FOSLA Academy will confront the winners between GSS Tudunwada and GSS Shere.’’

Ngwaogu further said the competition’s semi-final matches would be played on Friday, while the final would come up on Tuesday, Nov. 3 at the Area 10 Old Parade Ground pitch.

He assured that various prizes and trophies would be handed out to eventual winners, and all the zonal champions.
