Lagos – Vincent Ikemefune Nigeria Cup defending champion has revealed that his poor form is a result of family issues which he needed to resolve before he can focus on his game.

The Ikoyi Golf Club, Lagos professional player, who described his present position in the game as disappointing, noted that he would need to retrace his steps.

“My problem now is family issue and is affecting my game. I have to solve it if I must improve as a professional. Golf needs you to be relaxed and focused without distraction,” he said.

The performance of Ikemefune in the just concluded Ojerinde Tournament at Otukpo, Benue State, where he could not make the cut to contest for the top prize, was a reflection of the situation.

Against this backdrop he lamented, “I’m disappointed at myself, I’m ashamed,” just as he revealed he would take a break to overhaul himself ahead of Nigeria Cup.

“I have planned a holiday for at least two weeks to sort out things, because I would have to defend Nigeria Cup so that my last victory will not look like a fluke,” he said.
