Family and friends of former governor of Delta State, Chief James Onanefe Ibori, on Thursday marked his 58th birthday in grand style.

It was a fit occasion to appeal to all his admirers and loyalists to continue in their prayers for his early return.

The ex-governor’s 58th birthday ceremony, which was held at the Oghara Civic Centre, had in attendance Olorogun Williams Makinde, Managing Director of DESOPADEC; Chief William Ibori, the Unugbrogodo of Oghara Kingdom; Chief Amos Itihwe, DESOPADEC Commissioner, representing Ughelli South, Udu, Uvwie and Urhobos in Warri; Chief Pius Ovwiye, DESOPADEC Commissioner, representing Ughelli North and Ethiope East; Dr. Henry Ofa, former DESOPADEC Commissioner; Dr. Chris Oghenechovwen, Chairman, Delta State University Teaching Hospital Management Board; local government chairmen, state commissioners, politicians, traditional rulers and others.

In her speech, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori appealed to political associates and friends to join the Ibori family in prayers to enable him (Ibori) remain strong till his return.

Said she: “I enjoin all Deltans and Nigerians at large to join the family in prayers, because as it is now we know that it’s the grace of God that has kept him strong this far.

“So, I will plead with those who are anxious about his quick return to keep praying. When they join us in prayer, God will definitely answer us.

“If we are more than one praying for him to be home safe, then our prayers will truly be answered.

“So, they should continue to join us, his family and Ethiope West constituency to pray for him for safe return.

“Our daddy’s absence has obviously been affecting us because even when you have a daddy that travels to a nearby state for few hours, he will be missed, so he being away for this long has been a huge gap.

“We are quite lucky to have people in our lives that stood for him, and those who have been so supportive to us.”

Hon. Erhiatake Ibori further stated that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa had been amazing to her and the family, saying that her father’s absence didn’t just affect them, the kids, but also the Ibori family, extended family, Ethiope West and the Urhobo nation.

“His life is so bright to us that we can see almost to the end of the road; his presence is almost overwhelming, so when he leaves you will definitely feel that something has left.

“So I can tell you that it is not just only we that missed his presence, Ethiope West, Delta and Nigeria as a nation missed his presence,” she added.

As part of the birthday ceremony, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori presented starter packs to over 150 youths, women and the aged drawn from her Ethiope West Constituency in appreciation of their support to her during her election.

The starter packs include welding and fabrication equipment, hairdressing instruments and generating sets, fish farming tools and feeds, among others.
