Falcons skipper Evelyn Nwabuoku has said the African champions will beat Equatorial Guinea on the road in a 2016 Olympic qualifier after the team was held to a 1-1 draw in Abuja on Saturday.

Visiting Equatorial Guinea forced the Falcons to a 1-1 draw in Abuja to leave Nigeria’s qualification chances in tatters

“I cannot give any excuses for our showing (vs Equatorial Guinea). If they can come here and get a draw, nothing stops us from going there and getting a victory,” Nwabuoku said.

Coach Christopher Danjuma said the death of the team’s media officer affected them, but they now hope to turn the table in Equatorial Guinea.

“The girls were psychologically down due to the loss of our media officer on Thursday. We are sorry for not winning,” he said.

“I want to assure Nigerians that we are not out of the race to qualify for the Olympic Games as we will do the job in Malabo.”
