Super Falcons captain and midfielder, Evelyn Nwabuoku, says the team is ready to make up for its absence at the women football event of the London Olympics.

The African champions will play the Nzalang Nacional of Equatorial Guinea in the first fixture of the 2016 Olympics qualifying match on Saturday at the Abuja National Stadium.

Nwabuoku said that Falcons was in perfect mood to achieve a convincing victory against Equatorial Guinea.

“We know Equatorial Guinea is a good side. On our part, we have resolved to qualify because Nigeria did not make it to the last Olympics in London.

“We want to correct our mistakes by being at the Olympics coming up in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

“Hearing that the Equatorial Guinea side said they know us quite well does not frighten us.

“If they claimed to know us, we too also know them very well so that is not a problem for us.

All I want to tell Nigerians is that victory is sure because we will make them smile come Saturday,” said Nwabuoku to NFF official website.

However, Coach Christopher Damjuma has said that training had been reduced to once a day as the team rounds off preparation for the match.

A total of 29 players are sweating it out at the moment, as the team looks forward to a convincing win against Equatorial Guinea.

The winner of the two-legged clash will play winner of the duel involving South Africa and Kenya for a spot at the 2016 Olympics.
