Super Falcons will have a taste of the Goal Line Technology at the Women’s World Cup slated for Canada next June.

The tournament, which has Nigeria grouped alongside USA, Sweden and Australia in group D, will mark the first time that GLT will feature at the FIFA Women’s World Cup and this follows the successful implementation of the technology at the 2014 FIFA World Cup, the FIFA Confederations Cup and three FIFA Club World Cups.

Consequently, FIFA announced on Tuesday that British-based Company, Hawk-Eye, will provide the GLT system for the tournament, which kicks off in Edmonton, Canada, on 6 June 2015.

The use of Hawk-Eye in Canada will be subject to a final installation test at each stadium, which is a standard procedure as part of the official certification process.

Meanwhile, Chairperson of the Nigeria Women’s League board, Dilichukwu Onyedinma, has revealed that the Super Falcons is preparing hard for the All Africa Games and Rio Olympics qualifiers against Mali next month, with one eye on the Canada 2015 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The team managed a 1-1 result in the All Africa Games qualifiers in Bamako and will play the return fixture later in the month.

”The girls are training because we all know what is at stake. Plans are in place to keep the team in shape including friendly games and the qualifiers have hindered our training tour.

”Once we execute the All Africa Games and Olympic qualifiers against Mali (Olympic qualifiers against Mali 9-23 May) we’ll embark on our World Cup training tour.”
