A Kenyan security expert, Esau Kioni, has urged President Uhuru Kenyatta to form a special squad to deal with Al-Shabaab terrorists.

Kioni, a former Security Adviser in President Mwai Kibaki’s government, said this is the only way to deal with the terror group ruthlessly.

Al Shabaab militants killed 147 students at Garissa University College on Thursday.

Kioni said the squad should be trained specifically to deal with the terrorists.

“The team should be trained and equipped in such a way that they can reach anywhere the soonest possible when a terror attack is reported,” he said.

Kioni, in interview with Kenyan newspaper, Star, said the government should not relent in the war on terror.

He said the team should have a standby helicopter all the time.

“The team can be situated in crime-prone areas like Northeastern, Coast and Nairobi so that it can respond immediately after the attack or after any report. The team should also be well informed,” Kioni said.

He said it is time to declare full-scale war and fight the “urban gorillas”
