Despite the conflict in the National Assembly, a member of the House of Representatives, representing Obudu, Obanliku, and Bekwarra Federal Constituency of Cross River State, Hon. Barr. Legon Idagbor, has assured Nigerians that the Eight National Assembly will initiate qualitative and enduring legislation that will take the country out of its present economic morass.

Speaking in an interview with Daily Independent, in Abuja, the lawmaker said, with the nation’s abundant resources, Nigerians should expect a better deal in the new dispensation.

The lawmaker remarked that with the envisaged cordiality between the executive and the legislature in the present administration, the two arms will re-address most of the challenges militating against the development goals of the country.

He identified epileptic power supply, insecurity, unemployment and revenue leakages as the key problems the present government would have to confront, and expressed hopes they would soon be fixed.

He said: “This 8th Assembly has all it takes and the mandate to give to Nigerians the dividends of democracy.

“We will put all the necessary legislations in place comprehensively to provide for revenue needs.

“Our oversight functions would be strengthened in such a way that there will be no room for loopholes in the implementation of government plans and projects.

“I can assure you that Nigeria will continue to be attractive to investors; we have the human capital and with our younger generation’s steadfastness, training and development, our much needed goals would be achieved.”
