The people of Oruk Anam in Akwa Ibom State have disassociated themselves from the claims by their son, one of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) BoT members, Chief Don Etiebet, in the media, that there were no governorship/state House Assembly elections in the state.

Elders and people of Oruk Anam made their stance known on this at the weekend when they paid a courtesy visit to theb state Governor, Chief Godswill Obot Akpabio, at Government House, Uyo.

They discountenanced statements made by Etiebet in national and state media that the April 11 governorship and state House of Assembly elections were not held in the state.

Led by the Deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Udo Kirian Akpan, the delegation said that in Ikot Ibritam, home town of Chief Etiebet, there are three voting units, Ikot Ekpuk 1, 2, 3, in which Etiebet voted for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and lost in one of the units, while the PDP won in the remaining two polling units.

Akpan, condemned utterances of the PDP BoT chieftain turned APC chief, using the mass media to assert that there was no election in the state whereas he participated effectively in the exercise in his local government area.
