The President General of the Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU), Chief Joe Omene, has accused the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) of backing Yunusa Dahiru in his trial over Ese Oruru’s abduction.

He stated that while speaking to journalists in his country home in Mosogar, Delta State.

The UPU president said it was obvious the ACF was playing a role behind the scene, considering how Dahiru met the stringent bail conditions.

Omene who also lamented the quality of legal representation Dahiru was given, wandered how he could afford three Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) to represent him, explaining that, it certainly shows there is more to it than we think.

Dahiru cannot afford a SAN, hence the believe about ACF, which practically has been suspected of playing a role from the onset, would not be fair in their involvement in the case.

He went on to say that this will practically test the relationship between UPU and Arewa. “The UPU is closely following up the case. Our lawyer, a SAN, who is the UPU Secretary General, will be in court at the next date of proceeding and advise us on what to do next”.

Omene thanked everyone involved in securing Ese’s freedom especially the Bayelsa Police Command, the UPU, Bayelsa Chapter, and the various NGO’s who were relentless in their efforts in the pursuit of the truth.
