The  governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Kaduna State in the April 11 election, Alhaji Abdul Ahmed Isiaq, has said that the era of religious and ethnic politics  in Nigeria has gone, giving way to new politic of issues and ideology.

He stated this when he briefed newsmen in Kaduna on Wednesday. According to Isaiq, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) brought the dirty politics of religion and ethnicity to the nation and that finally nailed the coffin of the party.

“We all know that Nigerians were divided on religious and ethnic lines while on the ground there was nothing to show what will benefit the people. This system created hatred in the mind of the people and once you belong to a particular religion PDP made you to believe that the person of the other faith is your enemy and that is the reason for the killing and maiming that was witnessed in the country.

“In reality poverty, insecurity, corruption and stealing became the order of the day at the detriment of development of the country.  A South-South person is ready to stick his neck for President Goodluck Jonathan because he is from his zone without putting into consideration his real achievements.

“The government was profiting from this, and that is why they encouraged it but it was over-blown to a proportion that they could no longer control it and Nigerians came back to their senses. That is why PDP was voted out of office and I called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to avoid the same mistake so that the people will not rise up against them,” he said.
