Enyimba Set Sight On CAF Group Stage

Expectedly, Enyimba Football Club qualified for the second round of the CAF Champions League despite losing 2-1 to Vital O of Burundi on Saturday.
The Nigerians reached the next stage on a 6-3 goals aggregate, having won the first leg in Port Harcourt 5-1 last Sunday.
Enyimba will play Etoile du Sahel of Tunisia play in the second round after it eliminated Olympique Khouribga of Morocco 3-1 on goals aggregate. After playing 1-1in the first leg, Etoile won the second leg 2-0 on Saturday.  The winner of the Enyimba tie against Etoile will qualify for the money spinning group stage.
In Bujumbura on Saturday, Enyimba took the lead on 28 minute through Ikechukwu Ibenegbu, when he nodded home Joseph Osadiaye’s cross for his first goal for the club.
But Shasiri Nahimana equalised for the hosts two minutes later. Laudit Marugo put Vital’0 ahead for the first time in the 65thminute. Vital O hope of a comeback was dashed in the 70th minute when goalkeeper Mac Arthur Arakza was sent off for handling the ball outside the box.
Meanwhile, Tanzania giants Young Africans progressed 3-2 on aggregate after holding Rwanda’s APR to a 1-1 draw in Dar es Salaam, courtesy of a 2-1 away win in Kigali in the first leg.
Wydad Casablanca will face Saint George or TP Mazembe in the next round, while Enyimba will take on Olympique Khouribga or Etoile du Sahel and Young Africans battle Al Ahly or Recreativo do Libolo.
