The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has advised parents to encourage their children to acquire vocational skills while pursuing academic degrees.

Adeboye also warned parents against forcing careers on their children.
The revered cleric gave the counsel through the Assistant General Overseer (AGO) on Personnel and Administration, Pastor Funsho Odesola, at the church’s national headquarter, Throne of Grace (TOG), Ebute Metta, while speaking with journalists at the special prayers service organised for first born and their families.

“Parents should encourage their children to something handy alongside their certificates. While on holidays I asked my first girl to go learn catering even with her masters’ degree.
“While I told the second girl to learn fashion designing though she is studying nutrition in the university.  My boy who is an architect and has two lines of company sews my suit,” the AGO stated.
As part of cushioning the current economic crisis, he encouraged the government to grant financial aids to women operating and willing to do small scale businesses.
On his part, TOG, Assistant Pastor, Adebayo Adeyanju, stressed the need for parents not to fail in dedicating their children to God as a way of securing their destinies.
However, in his sermon, Adeboye said every first born is special to God and loved by him, same way the devil is interested in ensuring they do not succeed.
“Satan hates first born that was why he made sure Reuben did evil which made his father to curse him. The good news for first born is that God loves them passionately.
“The plan of God for first born is that they get greater blessings. There are responsibilities for first born. God expects high standard from those he loves.
“God does not tolerate nonsense. If any first born refuses to do the will of God he will be replaced.”

He however added that whether first born or not, anyone with his or her godly actions and lifestyles can be raised from obscurity to prosperity.
