The Kaduna State Government has issued a stop-work order on carve-outs plots of land in public institutions across the three Senatorial Districts of the State.

A statement from the Special Assistant to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Samuel Aruwan stated that, “government has announced its intentions to preserve the integrity of lands belonging to public institutions such as schools and hospitals in the state”, disclosing that government has issued a circular on the issue.

The circular, which was signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, directed relevant agencies to ensure compliance with the steps the government is taking to protect public lands.

Aruwan quoted the circular as saying that, “to this end, it has directed the relevant agencies to compile and forward records of all encroachments on the titles of these public institutions, whether by means of excisions and carve-outs or outright trespass.”

“While these land records are being updated, the government wishes to advise the beneficiaries of allocations of plots that fall within this category not to proceed with any transactions or developments on these properties, and to suspend whatever work that is on-going at these sites.
