Sequel to the protest by beggars in the state, the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasiru el- rufai has appointed a Special Adviser on disability.

Kaduna State Government today announced this when the names of the new boards for its agencies responsible for managing elections, urban planning, traffic and emergencies were also announced.

In a statement signed by Samuel Aruwan, Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, he disclosed that the governor has approved the reconstitution of the boards of SIECOM, KASUPDA, KASTELEA and SEMA.

He said the governor also appointed Aliyu Muhammed Salisu as his Special Assistant on Persons with Disability. Salisu, who hails from Sabon Gari, Zaria, holds a diploma in Special Education from the Kaduna Polytechnic and another diploma in Guidance and Counseling from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria.

He is a member of the National Association of the Blind and has worked at the Kaduna State Rehabilitation Centre. He is the chairman of the Braille Production Centre in Kaduna.

It could be recalled that this week beggars from the state had besieged the Secretariat of the NUJ in Kaduna protesting the governor’s order of restricting them from street begging saying it was the money they made from the street begging that was used to support the governor during his election.
