As part of efforts to clean Kaduna State and it’s environs of refused dumped in strategic places, Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai had penultimate week ordered the recruitment of significant number of unemployed youths including the aged to clean their environment.
This was as a result of abandoned the collection and disposal of refused by the contractors engaged by the previous administration led by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor, Dr. Ramalan Yero. Most of the contractors recruited by the previous government only existed on papers as millions of money was siphoned for that purpose.
Interestingly, with the new government led by Governor Nadir E-Rufai of All Progressive Party(APC)in the state, the coast is now clear as the end justify the means. The present administration believed in”work hard and get paid.”
His decision to engage hundreds of unemployed youths within the 23 Local Government area of the state was not only to reduce unemployment in the state, but also to ensure that youths within their environment keep to a saying that ” a healthy environment is a healthy nation.” Besides, they will have foods on the table for their families and loved ones.
It’s obvious that the present regime’s campaign promises has started yielding positive results more so that some other people in the state were engaged as nannies and securities in various primaries and post primary schools across the state, while hundreds of carpenter, artisans, plumbers were also engraved to provide furniture, school repairs and other necessities.
Recently engaged waste disposal staff expressed happiness to the administration of Governor Nadir E-Rufai and thanked Almighty God for given him wisdom, knowledge and understanding in piloting the affairs of the state.
According to Mrs.Jessica Auta, in Kakuri, Kaduna South Local Government, hope to get work was lost, until a friend approached her if she was willing to work for a pay. She said her four children was drove out of school because since she lost her husband, a police officer, life has not remained the same any longer.
“Since I lost my husband who was the bread winner of the family, every other things became stand still. It was another moment of setback for the family. Our four children were sent back home from schools because I can no longer pay their school fees. ”
She thanked the governor for fulfilled part of his campaign promises even as she promised to take back her four children to school.
Also speaking, a 67 year old man, Mr.Abdullahi Mustapha who lost all his children during religious crisis in the state said he will use all his energy to work as he had nobody to feed him. According to him, most food he eats, were provided by some good Samaritans whom also could not make ends meet for the last two months because of verification of civil service in the state.
He said the opportunity provided if not properly utilised, may vanish forever.
” Before now, I lean on people to survive. Those who know me and my deceased children make food available for me. But for the last two months, food becomes difficult because those who have been helping me find it difficult to survive themselves.”
Most people in the state expressed joy over the administration of the governor, especially the recently employed youths, who in their number woke as early as 6.00am in an effort to keep their street tide by and to ensure that refuse dumped over the night by residents are evacuated and dump in a specific area.
