The nineteen lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State have returned for the House of Assembly election on Saturday.

Wole Olujobi, the Chief Press Secretary to the House of Assembly Speaker, Adewale Omirin, disclosed this in a telephone interview with Daily Independent on Friday.

He said that his boss, Omirin, and the other lawmakers were fully on ground in Ekti State to ensure the party’s success in Saturday’s election, and that APC retained its majority in the new House of Assembly.

Olujobi, who said he was on his way to his community for the election, added that all the APC lawmakers would ensure that they retained their seats, hence their decision to stay back after their Thursday sitting.

He maintained that Ekiti State had been calm after the lawmakers’ sitting on Thursday over the planned impeachment of Governor Ayo Fayose.

He however indicated that the people were confused because of the current happenings in the state and the new political configuration in the country.

He reiterated the determination of the lawmakers to see through the ongoing impeachment process, stressing that Fayose had been exploiting the poverty level of the people with his ‘stomach infrastructure.’
