Unknown gunmen have invaded Barakin Ladi Local Government area of Plateau State, killing four persons at a drinking parlour in another wave of violence among the people of the locality.

Similarly a free for all fight between Berom natives and Hausa youths in the locality over alleged  nomination  of  one Alhaji Auwal Tanko as supervisory counselor by the state government into the yet to be constituted local government caretaker committee has led to a clash that left another set of four people dead.

Daily Independent gathered from the restive locality on Wednesday afternoon that the politically motivated attacks took place Tuesday night when a group of youths alleged to be from a Berom community stormed the house of the renowned politician, Alhaji Auwal Tanko, who was said to have been nominated as a supervisory councillor by Governor Simon Lalong.

It was gathered that the Hausa youths, irked by the attack, allegedly laid ambush on some Berom youths, killing three persons in the process.

The dead bodies of the youths were said to have been discovered in a nearby water well.

Tanko Salisu Nasir, a member of Tanko’s family who survived the attack, told newsmen on phone from the restive locality: “We had just finished eating our meal when we heard gun shots. The gun men killed my 10-year-old brother Hassan Salisu.” Nasir said he found himself in Mainasara Hospital, where four bullets were allegedly removed from his body.

A community leader in Barakin Ladi, Alhaji Danjuma Abdullahi, on his part told newsmen that the matter has been reported to the sector commander in charge of the area, adding that the town was tensed for fear of reprisals.
