Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC)in Warri South Local Government area of Delta State, Prince Valentine Egbe, has assured that the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, will not witch-haunt Delta State for being in opposition at the national level.

But he predicted doom for corrupt Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leaders in the state.

Egbe was reacting to comments by some Deltans that Buhari will marginalise Delta State for being in opposition. He said only Deltans, particularly those in the PDP, who have corruptly enriched themselves at the expense of the people for the past 16 years would face the doomsday. “I say this because the fight against corruption is on the topmost agenda of the President-elect and obviously the PDP-led Delta State Government is the most corrupt state of all the states in the federation.

“Therefore one should not expect those that have ruined Delta State for the past 16 years to go scot free in the forthcoming anti-corruption crusade.  “This is probably why they are being chased by their own shadows. Deltans who have clean hands need not express any fear,” the APC chieftain said.

Egbe, who was speaking to journalists in Warri shortly after the return of Delta State APC members courtesy visit to the President-elect, stated that APC has come like a tsunami with a broom to wipe away corruption and other mess which PDP has inflicted on Nigerians since the past 16 years.

He insisted that Deltans voted for APC in the general elections and that the party’s mandate was stolen by the PDP. “I see Buhari as a messiah who has come to salvage Nigeria. He is a symbol of hope. Those of us in APC are beginning to feel it.

“We see him as a disciplinarian who has come to wipe away corruption and also effect positive change.”

Egbe, who lambasted those describing the President-elect as a tyrant, noted that such persons are ignorant of the true person of Buhari, as he said that they are mistaking discipline for tyranny.

“More than 60 per cent of those who voted for him (Buhari) were toddlers when he was the Head of State in spite of the negative image painted about him by the PDP,” Egbe added.
