EFCC Arrests Ohakim, Quizzes Lamido

ohakimThe Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday arrested the immediate past governor of Imo State, Ikedi Ohakim, over charges of corruption.

This is as former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido presented himself to the anti-graft agency to answer to some questions bordering on the way he managed the resources of his state.

As at 4.0 pm Thursday, Daily Independent learnt that both former governors reported at the commission’s Abuja officer, where they were being quizzed by officials of the anti-graft agency.

EFCC’s Spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, who confirmed this to our said Ohakim was arrested and brought to the agency’s headquarters at about 10.00 am.

While responding to inquiry from Daily Independent, Uwujaren  said: “I do not know the issues involved but what I know is that the former governor has been picked in connection with the way and manner he managed the resources of Imo state when he held sway as governor of the state.”

Daily Independent findings shows that Lamido is being questioned on issues relating to bribery and money laundering .

As at the time of filing this report, the former governors were still at the EFCC headquarters, as it was not clear whether they will be released before the close of the day.
