The General Overseer of Christ Assets Church, Prophet David Sodeke, has revealed that no amount of economic postulation could bring about expected turn around to the ailing economy except the leadership of the country seeks divine intervention.

Sodeke, who made this disclosure while interacting with journalists during the 30th anniversary of the Great Challenge Evangelical Outreach at the church headquarters in Lagos, said Nigerians had sinned against God.

He disclosed that the nation had degenerated to this economic mess due to incessant sins and no regards to God in the way that successive leaderships have run the affairs of the nation.

He said: “This nation has shed so much blood coupled with high level of corruption being perpetrated at different levels of governments in the past. You cannot hold President Muhammad Buhari accountable for problems confronting nation at the moment.

“I saw it coming 15 years ago and I was shouting, but nobody listened to me. However, the good news is that all hope is not lost. If we pray fervently asking God for forgiveness, God would abundantly pardon us and He will heal our economy,” he assured.

He recounted that the Great Challenge Evangelical Outreach had impacted positively on individuals and the nation in general, saying that he laboured in prayers for the nation on a regularly basis privately and on a radio programme sponsored by the church every Thursday.

While stressing that the church’s radio programme had been sustained for the past 30 years without any hitch, he added: “I thank God for His faithfulness to His word through Great Challenge Prayer programme. Great testimonies are abound ranging from great deliverance, breakthroughs, healing, manifestation of his power and glory.

“Besides, the programme has brought great rewards to the church so much so that the Lord has given us open doors in some African countries and beyond. We the church members have stood with the ministry for the past 30 years,” he further stated.
