Ebonyi State governor, David Umahi, has said the state is poised to establish a joint security outfit to ensure that his administration achieves peace in the state.

Umahi disclosed this in Abakaliki while receiving the new commissioner of police, Peace Abdallah.

He said, “I am very impressed with the Nigeria police of today. There is nothing as good as helping people to resolve their differences. There is nothing good as honesty and uprightness.”

The governor pledged the commitment of his administration to fully partner with the police in the state to ensure a crime-free society, especially during the ‘Ember’ months.

Umahi described the posting of Abdallah to Ebonyi as an act of God, and promised to put traffic lights in the police barracks. He also directed the commissioner for water resources, Francis Orji, to ensure constant water supply to the barracks by the end of this month.

In her remarks, the new commissioner of police thanked the governor for supporting the police and urged him not to relent in his efforts.

Abdallah said, “We are not up to 3,000 policemen in Ebonyi State. It is evident that without the community we serve, we cannot succeed.

“We will partner with the community by reaching out to the stakeholders in Ebonyi State,” she said.
