Despite the failure of President Goodluck Jonathan to win the 28th March 2015 presidential election, the Ebonyi state chapter of the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) said that the party will still secure total victory in the governorship and state house of assembly elections.

Abia Onyike, the Media Director of Divine Mandate Organization, managers of the campaigns of the PDP governorship candidate of the PDP, Engineer Dave Umahi explained that even as the governor

had labored to diminish the chances of the PDP, the party had gained the confidence of the populace, so would as before, win the governorship and all the 24 seats in the state House of Assembly.

Onyike stated this while reacting to a radio broadcast by the state governor, Martin Elechi who is accused of backing the Labor Party against the ruling PDP.

The Media Director in a press briefing in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi state capital, on Wednesday, said that the broadcast ran short of expectations of the people of the area, to that extent it could be considered disappointing and full of subtle threats, directed at the entire Ebonyi society and the INEC.

He noted that the Divine Mandate Campaign Organisation believes that the presidential and national assembly elections were properly conducted and the results were true reflection of balance of force on the ground between the contending political parties.

He added: “The victory obtained by PDP in the Senatorial and House of Reps elections was a testimony that the PDP had become a mass movement in the state.

“We regret that the governor’s speech totally ignored to address the workers strike action which has paralysed both public and private services in the state because the workers have not been paid salaries.”
