DSS Nabs Abductors Of Three Lafarge’s Australian Staff

Department of State Services (DSS) on Sunday announced the capture of Samuel Asuquo, a shadowy kidnapper specialising in abduction of foreign nationals.

The Service at Nasarawa Bakoko village in Cross River State arrested Asuquo, the mastermind of the kidnap of three Australian staff of Lafarge Cement Company, for which his gang received the ransom of N150 million.

The secret police outfit said the suspect was one of the fruits yielded by its covert nationwide counter insurgency and crime bursting campaign, which yielded bountifully in the last one month.

Apart from the arrest of Asuquo, the agency said it arrested the trio of Bamaiyi Mustapha, aka Dan Borno, Aminu Isa and Hassan Shehu, members of a notorious kidnap gang operating around the Abuja-Kaduna axis.

The DSS said the three were arrested at Lafia, Nasarawa State on August 30, 2016. It was gathered that the gang had earlier kidnapped five women from the East and collected N13 million for their release.

The Service said it arrested them while planning a high profile kidnap in Abuja.

It also said that in another operation carried out the same day at Tamburawa village along Kano-Zaria Expressway, Kano State, Alhassan Musa and Ado Yusuf, members of the kidnap and armed robbery syndicate operating from Falgore forest in Doguwa LGA, Kano State, were also apprehended.

Also on August 19, 2016, two kidnappers operating in Zamfara and its environs were arrested. They are Abdulrasheed Ibrahim And Aliyu Umar. The duo had beenterrorizing residents of the area, the DSS said.
