Operatives of the Department of State Security (DSS) on Thursday said it arrested 10-suspected kidnappers disguised as soldiers.

The suspected kidnappers were said to have terrorised the people across the state and always wore military uniforms.

The DSS said that six of the suspects have been arraigned in court, while another four who operated in full military combat uniforms will be arraigned soon.

Mr Joseph Okpo, Kogi State director of the Service told reporters in Lokoja, the state capital, that the command also arrested four members of a six-man gang that operated along Abuja-Lokoja highway.

He said that the suspects, Haruna Saleh, Kabiru Shuaibu, Mumuni Adamu and Tukur Shuaibu, specialised in robbery and kidnapping along the major roads.

According to the DSS Director, the suspects confessed to their involvement in some operations on Maraba-Jos road, Zaria-Kaduna road and Jaji-Zaria road while in military uniform.

He said that the suspects were apprehended on their way from Kaduna axis to link up with some people in Obajana where they planned to engage in fresh operations.

Okpo further said that the suspects were making useful statements on how they got the military uniforms.

He added that upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to have been involved in six operations between the Ramadan period and the day they were arrested.

The DSS director added that investigations revealed that most of the kidnappers operating in the state were from outside Kogi and lamented that the people took advantage of the geographical location and the route structure of the state.

He pledged that the DSS would collaborate with other security agencies to address the security challenges in Kogi state.
