The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Niger State has challenged Governor Abubarkar Sani Bello not to discriminate along political party lines but to be all inclusive in dealing with anyone found to have corruptly enriched him/herself from the state treasury.

A statement signed by the party’s Publicity Secretary, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa, argued that for Governor Bello to get it right efforts should be made not to discriminate but probe any member of the party who has soiled his or her hands by stealing the money from the previous governments.

The statement challenged Governor Bello to tow the line of President Muhammadu Buhari in his anti-corruption stand by considering the collective interest of Niger State above party lines in axing any official found wanting within his government.

“Niger State has been looted under the PDP government for the past eight years to stupor, even if it was yesterday that our dear governor appointed any APC member and he is found wanting the next day such an official should be showed the way out”.

Governor Bello must be firm in order to get it right by calling all self-centred government officials who do not see their appointment as an opportunity to serve Nigerlites who voted massively for the current dispensation but a way to enrich themselves.

Vatsa said: “APC is not a party where people join government to enrich themselves all for fatal political pursuits. If you loot to come and contest under our party, you will be treated exactly as looters should be treated. We are confident that our dear governor is vigilant to scrutinise all appointed officials and those penciled for cabinet members”.

“This does not mean people should not be given their dues. In fact, those who deny others their due are same people who engage in aberrations in their financial dealings.  The governor should not consider any political implications sacking them”, Vatsa said.

He pledged the party’s support in recovering all monies stolen by those who served in the previous administration.

“We are sounding this warning because we don’t want our party members appointed to think that because they are members of APC they will be spared in the Governor’s anti-corruptions agenda. In fact, our party members should in the real sense be used as examples for others like civil servants. We therefore urge the Governor to sack any party man found wanting, no matter the duration of his or her appointment before committing the offence,” he added.
