The Olukrere of Ikere Ekiti, Oba Ayodele Obasoyin has raised alarm over an alleged threat to his life by governor Ayo Fayose .
The monarch  accused government of partiality in the
crisis, warning that any attempt to either derecognize him  or make
him a subservient to Ogoga,  would be resisted  alleged  threat by the government  to deal with him over the lingering supremacy battle with his rival and Ogoga, Oba Olujimi Adu, on  who actually owns the town by history
On the statement credited to the Deputy Governor, Dr Kolapo Olusola,  an indigene of the town at the weekend, claiming that  the only recognized monarch in the town  was Ogoga, Oba Obasoyin said  this  signaled government’s sinister and clandestine intention to wipe off  his stool in history.

The Deputy governor was said to have made the statement last Saturday
during the official commissioning of the new Ogoga’s  palace, who has
been a recognized traditional ruler  .

The traditional ruler, who flaunted Ikere Intelligence Report of 1933,
among several other documents, including those written from the local
government and Ministry of Chieftaincy Affairs ,  to substantiate the
authenticity of his throne, expressed worries that Fayose, who was
expected to  mediate in the crisis ,  was allegedly  scheming
vengeance against him .

He said the provocative statement has really created an atmosphere of
tension in the town, saying he has been taking time to plead with his
people to calm down and allow Court to adjudicate on the matter.

Oba Obasoyin, who was installed in 2014,  said  the fact that the
present government has vehemently failed to respond to three memos he
had written to it, advocating that the staff of office be presented to
him , further corroborated his claim that it was taking side .
“A couple of weeks ago, Governor Fayose called me to his office and
warned me against giving Ogoga any problem and that he would fight me
with all the paraphernalia of office if  I should take any action
against my rival.

“The Attorney General, Barr Owoseeni SAjayi, Chief of Staff, Dipo
Anisulowo, Commissioner, Kayode Oso, Fayose’s CSO and one of his
sisters were present at the meeting.

“I want to say that Ogoga , whom Governor Fayose was  parading  as his
recognized king came to this town in 1836 from Akure, this is on
record.  About six Olukere had been installed before he came. Why
should the landlord now become a tenant. Ogoga was my errand boy and
nobody can rewrite this in history.

“Governor Fayose must learn from Ife-Modakeke communal crisis. They
should not do anything that would promote war  in this land. If the
government of Ekiti has any problem with the federal government, it
shouldn’t use Ikere  as a testing ground”.

Speaking further on the alleged desecration of his stool, Oba Obasoyin
added:  “Though, I assumed office in 2014, but the last  voucher
showing payment of salary to Olukere dated back 1989 and it was on
government’s website that there were two kings in Ikere Ekiti”.
