A university teacher, Dr. Ganiyu Alarape Balogun, has said the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has justified its 28 years of existence.

Speaking as a guest lecturer at the FRSC Osun State Sector Command’s 2015 Quarter Retreat held in Gbongan, Balogun argued that no time is better than now for the Federal Road Safety Commission to consolidate on its past achievements.

Balogun is the Dean, College of Information and Communication at the Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

According to him, the FRSC has gained the respect of the public in its efforts to reduce accidents on the roads.

“The motoring public values the gentlemanly conduct of the officers, even where sanctions have been applied.

“These achievements in 28 years can be regarded as representing an effective foundation level of the campaign in which basic awareness has been created and we have been through a remedial and experience gathering phase.”

The don, who said the corps must take the achievements to the next level, maintained that the present experience of the motorists in interacting with the corps should be made to become a habit.

Balogun advised the corps to intensify attention in certain areas, where it has succeeded.

In his welcome speech, the state Sector Commander, Mohammed Husaini, said the corps is always working towards improving its services in order to live to its statutory mandate.
