In a bid to actualise Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s S.M.A.R.T Agenda on strategic wealth creation and provision of jobs for all Deltans, Delta State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (DESOPADEC) management team led by Olorogun Williams Makinde, its Managing Director, visited Umutu Market, Umutu Bridge and Skill Acquisition Centre, all in Ukwuani Local Government Area of Delta State for on the spot assessment of the work.
Its first point of call was the Okpala-Uku Palace where Hon. Christopher Ochor Ochor, the Executive Director, Social Services, briefed the chiefs on the reason for the managing director’s visit.
Hon. Ochor accompanied by Chief A.O. Nwachukwu, the spokesperson of the community, took the team on a tour of the sites.
At the Umutu Martket, Ochor told Olorogun Makinde and DESOPADEC team that the outstanding work in the market include replacement of the decayed wood holding the roof, concrete flooring, completion of the police post, toilet facilities and interlocking of the road from the entrance to the market.
He, however, told the team that the major project in the market was the completion of the storey building housing about 36 lock-up stalls.
