Hon. Monday Igbuya, Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, on Sunday, urged Muslims to hold on to Islamic tenets according to the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah.
In a message to Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir festival, Igbuya also harped on the need for Nigerians to live together in peace and harmony.
“The teachings of Islam emphasizes that we live with one another peacefully,” he said, and advised the Islamic faithful to submit to Allah’s command.
He also appealed to them to them to identify impoverished persons in their midst and give them the opportunity to partake in the sacrificial feast.
Igbuya who listed obedience, faith, sacrifice, thankfulness, generosity, peace, love for neighbours and training as major lessons from the sacrificial feast, enjoined Nigerians to work together in unity.
“Nigerians must stop viewing themselves in divergent lines. They must stop emphasising their differences. They must contribute towards the unity, stability and progress of the country.”
In a statement in Asaba by Henry Ebireri, his Chief Press Secretary, Igbuya urged Muslims in Delta State to continue to show support for government in order to move the state to  greater heights.
He urged members of the political class in the country to address the needs of young people, particularly those facing homelessness, joblessness and poverty.
