Area Commander in charge of Delta Central Police Command, A.S. Pedro, in collaboration with the officer in charge of Ughelli Police Division ‘A’, Hassan Ibrihim Galadima, have advised parents within the command and its environs to caution their children against involvement in cult activities.

This is because anyone caught in the act would be treated as an armed robber.

The two police officers made the call separately while addressing the Police Community Relations Committee  (PCRC) leadership in Ughelli.

They urged parents to train and re-train their children, educating them on the dangers facing cultism involvements.

According to the police chiefs, anyone caught with fire arms, battle axe or any other dangerous weapon will be treated as an armed robber because their activities are now beyond cultism.

Such hoodlums are now involved in hired assassination, car snatching at gun points, murder of innocent citizens, robbery at gun point of recharge cards, cash and other valuables including telephone handsets all in the name of cult activities.

The police lamented the state of frequent release of cultists by the court, blaming it for the increase on the cult activities in the area.

They decried the release of over 100 cultists recently charged to the court for cultism activities by magistrates.

The police therefore called for all hands to be on deck for the control of crimes and curtailment of all cult activities.

They urged all landlords, friends of the police, neighbourhood residents and all law abiding citizens to come forth with any useful information that could lead to the arrest of cult members that are now raining terrors on the people.
