Determined to provide a world class health care delivery, the Delta State University Teaching Hospital, Oghara recently received equipment boost, as the immediate past governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, commissioned a new 1.5T Toshiba Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine in the twilight    of his administration.

Speaking at the event, Uduaghan said that DELSUTH is in the spotlight as a specialist centre of excellence for referrals, and that as part of his administration’s priority, the health of all Deltans stands at high premium. This, he said, was clearly reflected in his administration’s achievement in the health sector.

Emphasising the different uses to which the equipment could be put into, he said that in the practice of modern medicine, diagnostic medical imaging is so vast that accurate diagnosis of a wide variety of disease conditions can be done through medical imaging technique.

He implored DELSUTH management to imbibe a maintenance culture as a better way of prolonging the life span of the equipment.

In the same vein, the Commissioner for Health under the former Uduaghan-led administration, Dr. Joseph Otumara, said in his address that the diagnostic equipment in DELSUTH attested to full commitment of the state government to safeguard the health of Deltans.

The former commissioner who expressed happiness about the equipment and its efficacy in terms of high resolution, comfort and fastness in result production stated that with the availability of the MRI in DELSUTH, the influx of patients for medical treatment/diagnosis outside the country   and its associated inconveniencies would be reduced to a very great extent.
