Freedom Hour

2 Samuel 11: 2-3, 14-17; Proverb 19:4, 7

“And it came to pass in an evening tide that David arose from off his bed and walked upon the roof of the king’s house: and from the roof, he saw a woman washing herself; and the woman was very beautiful to look upon. And David sent and inquired after the woman. And one said, Is not this Bathsheba, the daughter of Eliam, the wife of Uriah, the Hitite?”

The late cleric and foremost Nigerian pentecostal ambassador, Bishop Benson Idahosa said at a revival that “Poverty is a disease.”

Yes, I agree with this definition.

Poverty is a curse and a poor man is a reproach to his generation. If you are poor, you are a burden to your family. If you are poor you will be ridiculed. People will look down on you. If you are poor, people will avoid you. Poverty is very bad.

I can tell the story better because I came from a very poor family.

At any rate, poverty is in grades. There are some families that cannot afford three square meal daily. Some tenants cannot afford payment of house rent. Some are not tenants but live in uncompleted building.

In the above passage, it was poverty that made Bathsheba to be taken her bath openly to the extent that King David saw her nakedness and planned to sleep with her.

If her husband, Uriah had probably rented at least a two-bedroom flat, she couldn’t have been a victim.

Do you know that it was the same scenario of poverty that led to the untimely death of Uriah. The King had to terminate his life so as to have Bathsheba fully in his palace.

Deliverance from the bondage of poverty is a must for anyone that dreams to be celebrated.

If you therefore desire to move from the pouch of poverty, there are certain steps you need to take:

1. Positive confession – Regardless of what you are passing through, never see yourself as a failure. Don’t look down on yourself. Always see yourself as a rich man even if you cannot afford a sachet of water. Confess positively and very soon, you will celebrate.

2. Warfare – Poverty can be hereditary. If your father is poor, there is every tendency for you to be poor. When you discover that your case resembles that of your sibling or parent, then you need to fight back through warfare prayers. Several people are struggling to make ends meet today because of their evil foundation. Embarking on rugged warfare prayer with fasting will soon end your sorrowful songs of affliction.

3. Step of faith – Take step of faith. What you need is your mind. The moment your mind captures it, there is no doubt that you will soon get it. If you want a car for instance, it is not the money you need first. Go to where they are selling the car; ask for the price; collect the key; move the car and tell them you are coming back. You have taken the right step of faith and very soon it will happen.

4. Give sacrificial seed: If you want God to bless you, then imbibe in the culture of giving. You can sow a seed, no matter how big or small to covet a divine settlement. Most painful sacrifices trigger heavenly reaction.  When you do, you have indirectly opened the door.

5) You must be born again – If you are rich but you have not given your life to Jesus, you are a slave to Satan. Your wealth has no defense including your life. Satan may use ordinary sickness to siphon all your wealth and eventually kiills you. We have entered the realm of strange diseases, pestilence and premature death. It is only through Jesus that you can be sure of divine security. Try this today and your situation will never remain the same.

Pray these prayers:

Every chain of poverty that tie me down, break away by fire.

Ancestral curses of poverty operating upon my life, break by fire.

Helpers of my destiny, wherever you are, locate me for immediate transformation.

O God of Elijah, deliver me from bondage of poverty.

I have a good news for you that God will arise and bail you out. You will sing a new song very soon.

See you on the top!
