Former Minister of Transport, Ebenezer Babatope, on Saturday said members of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defecting to the All Progressives Congress (APC) will regret their actions in no distant time.

He spoke on the backdrop of Friday’s visit of PDP former National Chairman, Vincent Ogbulafor, to the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, where he held a closed-door meeting with the party’s National Chairman, John Oyegun.

Already three former PDP national chairmen, Audu Ogbeh, Barnabas Gemade and Kawu Baraje, are members of the APC.

Speaking on the gale of defections rocking the party, Babatope, a member of the PDP’s Board of Trustees (BoT), described the defectors as opportunists and men without principles, who can never be trusted.

He said loyal members of the party will continue to work assiduously towards ensuring that PDP becomes the ruling party in 2019.

According to him, “Those members of PDP who are defecting are opportunists.

“I am sorry for them because they have no principles. I believe that they are going to regret their actions in no distant time. The PDP will bounce back to power, it is just a matter of time.

“Those of us who are committed to PDP are fanatically married to the ideologies of the party and its massive reorganisation.

“We will do our best to ensure that in 2019 we take power back to PDP.

“Those who are defecting are just wasting their time. With their conduct, they have shown that they cannot be trusted” he said.
